Miimr gives users another way to gather content from all over the web that are of interest to them. The application provides users with a way to compile updates on news and discussions focused on their topics of interest. The user can customize the feed by following 11 million places, things and people. The Miimr homepage presents users with a quick look at the types of content they can follow, which really includes a little bit of everything. A list of popular channels and recently popular items can be found as well as a “Who’s Online Now” list that works through Facebook.

Miimr was created in 2008 by TrendHot LLC. The application was intended to give users a way to gather information on their favorite topics. The internet is a huge place with endless lists of possible resources. It is difficult to follow them all, even when focusing on only one or two topics. Miimr gives users an overview of recent discussions, things and relent individuals as selected by the user. Miimr is currently in a beta status.

News feeds are really not a new thing. Miimr stands out because the application allows users to create a customized news feed tailored to their personal interests. Users can follow just about anything on the web, from celebrities and other individuals to events and organizations. Users can also connect with other Miimr users through Facebook and Twitter.

The Miimr website users playful white bunny characters to give the site its own unique appeal. The light wood grain background is highlighted by a pleasant blue banner and carrot wielding rabbits. The homepage gives users a list of recent discussions to get started as well as collections of popular channels. The application is very easy to use and clutter free. The cartoon-esque rabbits also create a welcoming atmosphere to further entice new users.

Visitors can begin using Miimr by clicking the blue “Sign Up” link at the top, center of the homepage. Two blue buttons are also present and allow the user to sign up through Facebook or Twitter. Clicking the link gives the user access to the traditional registration form. The form requires a name, username, email address and password. After entering the information, the user can click the dark pink “Sign Up” button at the bottom of the form to continue. The next page provides users with a list of popular resources which they can choose to follow to get started. The user can also click the pink “Skip” button at the bottom of the list if they prefer. Doing so takes the user to their dashboard area, which is equipped with small blue pop up bubbles to explain each item and how to use it.

There are no charges for using Miimr. The site does not require a subscription fee or other charge for creating an account. There is no premium paid membership offered at this time. Of course Miimr is still in a beta status, so this could change in the future. For now, anyone can enjoy Miimr for free.
